Two people rescued from fire in Paignton

Two people were rescued from a property fire in Preston, Paignton in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 6th July.

The fire service were alerted to smoke coming from the property just after 3am by a member of the public.

Three Fire appliances from Paignton and Torquay were mobilised to the incident.

Devon and Somerset Fire and rescue service said on their website: “On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that there was smoke issuing from the property with two persons unaccounted for in the property.

“Crews quickly got to work using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, thermal imaging cameras and safety jets to tackle the fire and search for the casualties.

“Two females were rescued from the property by Fire Crews and handed over to Paramedics who were also on scene.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time,”

Two women were treated for smoke inhalation.
