Royal Torbay Yacht Club have announced that they will be one of five clubs in the UK to host the award winning ‘Volvo Sailing Academies’ this summer.
The event will take place on Saturday 9th May in association with RYA Push the Boat Out, giving people a chance to try sailing and stand up paddleboard for FREE.
In attendance will be some of the Top Olympic sailors in the British Sailing Team including; double Olympic windsurfing medalist Nick Dempsey, London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist Helena Lucas, Cornish sailor Tom Phipps, and Top 49er sailors Dylan Fletcher and Alain Sign.
And if that wasn’t enough the Bridge Family: an all-star family of kite-surf freestyle and race champions based in Devon will be coaching the paddleboarding sessions.
A spokesperson said:
“These days are a truly unique experience for those of all ages and abilities interested in getting into watersports.
“If you don’t fancy getting your feet wet, there will be number of family friendly shore-based activities including a BBQ lunch for guests.
“Volvo Sailing will be there to greet you, so please encourage friends, school mates, neighbours, work colleagues and family to come and get involved”
