Police have advised to clear the area and not attend the location.

Brixham police posted on social media: “Royal Navy EOD, Torbay Coastguard, a Trawler Skipper and Crew, along with our team are currently working on an incident whereupon the Trawler, at sea has pulled up what is believed to be a Torpedo in its nets. Breakwater slipway is closed / cordoned.

“PLEASE CLEAR THE BREAKWATER AREA AND DO NOT ATTEND THE LOCATION – THE OPERATION WILL BE HINDERED – ITS SAFE RESOLUTION IS PARAMOUNT. Many thanks indeed for your co-operation …. #ThatsSomeCatch [sic]”

The harbour was also closed off yesterday after a suspected ordnance was found but later confirmed to be an old air cylinder. More here.

Updates as information becomes available.
